Add Run Command To The Windows Start Menu In Windows Vista And 7

In Windows 7/Vista the Start menu does not have a Run command shortcut by default. To add the Run command we need to modify the Start menu settings as shown below.

Right click on the Start button.
Then click on Properties.
In the ‘Start Menu‘ tab click on the ‘Customize’ button.

Taskbar Start Menu Properties Customize Tab

In the new window that opens, scroll down to the end and find the check button for the ‘Run command’.
Select the ‘Run command‘ check button and click on OK.

Taskbar Start Menu Properties Customize Tab Run Check Box

Now you are back to ‘Taskbar and Start Menu properties‘ window. Click on Apply and close the window.
You will now see the Run window shortcut in the Start menu.
